Client Profile – Charity, Dublin
Our client is a small Not for Profit charity based in Dublin 2. Sweny’s Pharmacy is featured in James Joyce’s Ulysses. The business is maintained by volunteers, dedicated to preserving the shop as it was in Joyce’s time. Here you will find a selection of second-hand books and the perfect location for daily readings of Joyce’s works. Not forgetting, of course, the lemon-scented soap that made the shop famous! As a registered charity they have a Board of Directors, including a Managing Director.
Role - Accountant or Accounting Technician (Part-time)
They are seeking an experienced Accountant or Accounting Technician who is interested in supporting a charity type business. The role will involve managing the accounting activities of Sweny’s. Initially, they will review the systems in place with a view to putting in “best practice”. On an ongoing basis the role will report to their Managing Director and will involve:
· Maintaining record of daily sales
· Payment of supplier invoices
· Bank reconciliations
· Preparing monthly reports
· Preparing year end accounts for Audit
As the business is small with a small number of transactions, they require a candidate who will be available to oversee the book-keeping on a weekly basis. It is likely that they will need to spend c.2 hours per week on this role.
The role may suit an experienced Accountant of Accounts Person, who is possibly retired or has spare capacity and who would be willing to support a smaller business or a self-employed accounts person, with spare capacity.
