Assistant Accountant, Semi State, Dublin City

Our client a semi state body based in the City centre are part of a larger Group are currently looking for an experienced Finalist to Join their team on a contract with a view to permanency.

Reporting to the Managing Director and based in Dublin 2, this position will manage the day to day running of the finance area. The successful candidate will also have a wide range of interaction across a variety of  business activities, including product development, marketing, sales and operations. 

Principal Accountabilities

  • Responsibility for accounts payable and accounts receivable (non retailer related)
  • Treasury function, including payments and cash flow
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Preparation of monthly consol pack and intercompany payments with parent company
  • Completion of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist with rebate calculations for retailers and symbol groups on a monthly or annual basis
  • Responsibility for annual budget process
  • Responsibility for forecasting and reporting of same to parent company
  • Calculate and analyse customer and product profitability, carrying out variance analysis and highlighting any areas for concern
  • Submission of Revenue returns – Payroll,  PSWT etc
  • Maintenance of  staff records and personnel related schedule
  • Primary contact for External audit with KPMG and preparation of schedules
  • Primary contact for Internal audit and collation of information
  • Stock reconciliations and stock write offs in conjunction with Operational Finance
  • Preparation  of financials for tenders, business cases, product offers etc as requested
  • Any other finance and business related tasks as required

Knowledge, Experience and Skills 

The post holder will have a minimum 2:2 honours degree in Business or a related 3rd Level Degree and/or be part qualified with an accountancy body. The candidate will have 3 to 4 years experience in a busy finance department covering multiple tasks. They will possess excellent planning and organising skills; be adaptable and be committed to continuous learning. The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail and the ability to work on their own and as part of a team.  The person will have good organisational and communications skills (oral and written) and a flexible approach, along with the ability to multi-task and  meet deadlines.
