Our client, a public sector body based in South Dublin, is currently looking to recruit an experienced Accountant to join them.

Reporting to the Head of the Department, the post holder will ensure the effective, efficient and safe functioning of the assigned areas of responsibility in line with statutory requirements and service plan targets. Key responsibilities will include the following:

• Provision of financial expertise within the division and liaising with Finance division regarding reporting and cost control
• Business analysis and decision support
• Strategy and business planning support
• Performance reporting and improvement for finance and compliance.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Providing hands-on Finance Support to the day-to-day operations of the programme within the organisation including all aspects of financial governance and reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of supplier payments and payment practices, accruals/prepayments, cost transfers, monthly reports, forecasts, cash reports and other priorities as determined from time to time
• Supporting colleagues in ensuring the organisation operates an effective financial performance management process so that they can deliver the maximum amount of safe service while operating with the limits of the budget made available to it
• Supporting Head of the department in ensuring that the Service and Finance colleagues have timely access to financial information, including analysis and commentary, required to meet their obligations & responsibilities
• Providing support/oversight to ad-hoc projects/ongoing operations and other Projects as required from time to time

Essential Criteria:

• Member, or passed finalist of a recognised or prescribed accountancy body such as ACCA, CPA, ACMA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent
• Demonstrable record of achievement in a financial analysis/reporting role
• Highly proficient in the use of financial software, preferably experience in use of SAP or similar ERP system, as well as proficient in use of MS Excel Analytical techniques
