The company

Our client are currently seeking to recruit a part qualified or Finalist Accountant qualified into their finance team for a 12 month contract due to ongoing project work within their business.  The role will interact with many stakeholders and focus on providing financial information to support decision making.  They are also looking for someone who can optimise financial processes creating efficiencies in their overall finance team.  

The role

The role is varied and involved in all reporting and analysis for the Business in which it operates. It has a commercial focus on driving the business forward and improving the reporting process.  Your duties are but not limited to: 

  • Management Reporting, budgeting & forecasting
    • Deliver month-end close processes, including reconciliations and journal entries, for specific business areas ensuring accuracy, completeness and adherence to deadlines.
    • Produce accurate, timely and insightful management accounts and reports, from financial and non-financial data, to support performance analysis.
    • Prepare commentary and reports explaining significant deviations from forecasts for specific business areas.
    • Provide timely reporting to finance leadership and business stakeholders to support decision making.
    • Support the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for specific business areas.
    • Ensure adhere to financial controls, policies and accounting standards.
    • Support audit processes (internal and external), including addressing any audit queries.
  • Financial Analysis
    • Analyse budget versus actual figures, preparing commentary and identifying key drivers of variances for specific business areas.
    • Collaborate with operational teams to understand and monitor specific business areas.
    • Collaborate with finance and business colleagues to address and resolve identified issues in financials.
    • Support cost control initiatives and identify opportunities to improve financial performance.
    • Produce performance reporting highlighting key drivers, risks and opportunities
  • Systems & data
    • Identify optimisation and automation opportunities for finance using financial and operational systems & tools such as Power Query and Power BI.
    • Apply data analytics and business intelligence techniques to interpret trends, explain performance drivers, and provide forward looking insights.
    • Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of the organisation’s financial, operational, and reporting systems, understanding data flows, controls, and system outputs to ensure accurate, efficient, and insightful management reporting.
  • Projects & continuous improvement
  • Develop and refine management reports, KPIs, OPIs and decision support information to ensure relevance and accuracy.
  • Lead or participate in finance-related change projects, ensuring objectives are met efficiently.
  • Support digital transformation initiatives within the finance team.
