Finance Manager, Semi State, Dublin Remote

Our client a highly regarded semi state body based in Dublin city are currently looking to recruit a Finance Manager to join them on a six month contract.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager this role will provide a value added service by measuring and promoting financial and quality performance, assuring the integrity of financial results and ensuring the effectiveness of internal cost controls and compliance with all statutory obligations. This role will have a strong emphasis on budgetary control and involvement in strategic projects.

Responsibilities

The principal responsibilities associated with the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Engaging with the Operational Management Team by giving detailed information on pay hours’ performance in order to effect change, escalating issues/variances and embedding operational ownership, especially during changes.
  • Monitoring non-pay (Final Mile & Sales/General Administration) & Capital budget, highlighting and correcting areas where cuts or savings can be made and ensuring overruns and issues are escalated promptly.
  • Assisting Final Mile Operational Management in relation to financial tasks and attending operational meetings as required.
  • Providing support to Final Mile Operational Management in relation to ad-hoc requests for information and advice on how to best generate information from systems, circulating information and providing training related to new processes and procedures.
  • Preparing operational area annual pay, operational area & Sales/General Administration non-pay & Capital budgets in line with central instructions. You will be a key participant in forecasting processes and providing feedback and improvement where possible regarding budgeting / forecasting processes.
  • Compiling & controlling returns from various sources ,  producing consolidated data/results and escalating issues or variances.
  • Managing staff allocated, providing mentoring and support in their roles and ensuring they have clear accountabilities and receive appropriate training both internally & externally.
  • Supporting and contributing to organisation and systems changes to ensure easier transition and participating in IT systems development, testing and training, when required.
  • Carrying out ad-hoc queries and projects, individually or as part of a team, as required by the Senior Finance Manager – Final Mile Operations & General, especially in relation to business changes.
  • Undertaking project work as Finance Lead or as Project Manager.
  • Providing cover for and assistance to colleagues within the Finance team as required.

 

Knowledge & Experience

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years work experience in Performance or Financial Management and will have a detailed knowledge of Financial & Operational reporting systems. You will be a part qualified or qualified (preferred) accountant with an ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualification or equivalent.

You will have the ability to make informed quality decisions as a result of monitoring, analysis, challenge and debate. You are a flexible thinker and a strong communicator who can demonstrate the ability to simplify complex messages, and influence key stakeholders.  It is essential that you have the ability to manage a team and can demonstrate your capability to understand, energise and coach others. 

The organisation is based in Dublin city but once trained up the role will be one day a week in the office.
