Role Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable
- Review open purchase orders in conjunction with the Accounts Payable function.
- Monitor supplier statements and resolve outstanding queries.
- Review month-end accruals and ensure accuracy of reporting.
- Ensure accounts payable reconciliations are completed on a quarterly basis.
- Investigate and resolve aged outstanding items in a timely manner.
Accounts Receivable
- Support the invoicing process in collaboration with the wider finance team.
- Monitor debtor balances and follow up on outstanding payments.
- Assist with the management and improvement of credit control processes.
Pension Reporting
- Review and oversee pension reporting processes.
- Support the transition of reporting requirements from a quarterly to a monthly cycle.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve pension-related financial processes.
Payroll Support
- Provide support and cover for payroll processing as required.
- Ensure payroll activities are completed accurately and within deadlines.
- Assist with payroll administration and reconciliation processes.
- Support payroll operations for a workforce of approximately 400 employees.
Balance Sheet Management
- Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items and outstanding balances.
- Ensure appropriate supporting documentation is maintained for all balance sheet accounts.
Financial Statements and External Audit
- Support the preparation of annual financial statements and audit files.
- Assist with trial balance mapping and year-end reporting requirements.
- Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors.
- Coordinate audit requests and ensure timely completion of all audit deliverables.
- Work closely with senior finance management throughout the audit process.
Monthly Management Accounts
- Prepare and maintain monthly management accounting files.
- Produce financial analysis, reports, and commentary to support decision-making.
- Distribute management accounts packs to key stakeholders.
- Coordinate management review meetings and follow up on queries arising.
- Review accruals regularly and ensure they are released appropriately.
Key Requirements
- Qualified Accountant with a minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and the ability to manage and analyse large volumes of data.
- Proven experience preparing financial statements and annual reports.
- Experience liaising with external auditors and managing audit requirements.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with senior management and finance colleagues.
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Prepare detailed monthly payroll reconciliations.
- Analyse payroll costs against budget by role and cost centre.
- Produce monthly reports for senior management on workforce metrics, including vacancies, maternity leave, sick leave, and other payroll-related variances.
- Provide meaningful analysis and insights to support workforce planning and budget management.
