Our client is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Senior Management Accountant to join their senior leadership team. This is a key role offering the opportunity to influence business performance through insightful financial reporting, strategic analysis, forecasting, and strong financial leadership.  Reporting to the Finance Director, the successful candidate will oversee management accounting activities, budgeting and forecasting processes, financial controls, and team management while providing valuable commercial insights to support business growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and present monthly management accounts within strict reporting deadlines.
• Produce divisional reporting packs and consolidated financial reports.
• Deliver meaningful daily, weekly, and monthly management information to support business performance.
• Prepare financial disclosure and reporting documentation for interim and year-end reporting requirements.
• Take ownership of balance sheet integrity, including reconciliations and financial controls.
• Provide accurate and timely financial analysis, explaining variances against budgets and forecasts while challenging underlying assumptions.
• Deliver commercial analysis to improve operational efficiency, productivity, and profitability.
• Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives to support margin improvement.
• Assist in the preparation of statutory financial statements and year-end reporting processes.
• Lead the preparation and maintenance of budgeting and forecasting models.
• Support annual budget cycles and quarterly forecasting activities, ensuring financial impacts are accurately reflected.
• Manage and develop the finance team, providing leadership, coaching, and performance support.
• Contribute to the implementation of detailed costing methodologies across multiple operational sites.
• Support the development of customer pricing models and margin analysis frameworks.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote best-practice financial processes.
• Maintain a strong internal control environment and ensure compliance with relevant financial, tax, audit, and statutory requirements.

The Ideal Candidate

• Qualified Senior Management Accountant with proven experience in an industry-based, multi-site environment.
• Strong leadership and people management capabilities with experience supporting organisational change.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the creation of complex and dynamic financial reports.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence decision-making across the business.
• Highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a hands-on role.
• Experience with modern ERP systems is advantageous.
• Commercially aware with a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement and business growth.
